Lithuanian identity card
Lithuanian personal identity cards are officially recognised biometric identity documents issued to Lithuanian citizens. They are also valid for travel within the European Union and a number of other European countries, such as Albania, Croatia and Macedonia[1] (without the need for a Lithuanian passport).
New biometric identity cards
Gemalto won the tender from the Ministry of Interior to deliver 900 000 Sealys Laser-Secured electronic identification cards. Since January 2009, new biometric identity cards have been issued instead.[2]
